Then ask

Paste these into the same chat, after the first answer, so your AI knows which results you mean.

  • Did profit grow along with sales for these?

  • Did any of these complete an acquisition in the past year?

  • Chart these over the past year.

  • Any insider buying or selling in these over the past three months?

What counts

Revenue is the money a company records from sales. It is accelerating here when its latest quarter grew faster from a year earlier than the preceding quarter did.

The rule Monk.trade uses: quarterly sales up from the same quarter a year earlier, by less than 300%, and growing faster than the quarter before did, with at least $50M of sales in that year-earlier quarter.

New to these terms?
Revenue
The money a company takes in from sales before any costs. Also called sales.
Year over year
Compared with the same quarter a year earlier, which removes the normal ups and downs of the seasons.
Accelerating
Growing faster than before. Here the latest quarter’s yearly growth beats the previous quarter’s.
10-Q
The quarterly report a US company files with the SEC. Each row links to the one its numbers come from.

Variations

  • Revenue up 25% or more

    “Using Monk.trade, keep the accelerating companies whose latest quarterly revenue rose at least 25% year over year. Keep the $50M prior-year base and growth cap below 300%.”
    MonkQL
    from stocks
    let sales = facts(concept = "revenue", period = "quarterly")
    let year_ago = facts(concept = "revenue", period = "quarterly", back = "4")
    where year_ago.value >= 50000000 and sales.yoy > 0 and sales.yoy < 3 and sales.yoy > sales.yoy_before and sales.yoy >= 0.25
    show sales.value as revenue, 100 * sales.yoy as rev_growth, 100 * sales.yoy_before as prior_growth, year_ago.value as year_ago_rev
    sort rev_growth desc
    take 10

  • Accelerating revenue near a 52-week high

    “Using Monk.trade, find accelerating quarterly revenue among stocks closing within 5% of their 52-week high. Keep the $50M prior-year base and growth cap below 300%.”
    MonkQL
    from stocks

    let year_ago = facts(concept = "revenue", period = "quarterly", back = "4")
    include close >= 0.95 * highest(high, 252)
    where year_ago.value >= 50000000 and sales.yoy > 0 and sales.yoy < 3 and sales.yoy > sales.yoy_before
    show sales.value as revenue, 100 * sales.yoy as rev_growth, 100 * sales.yoy_before as prior_growth, year_ago.value as year_ago_rev

Research on revenue growth

  1. What raw revenue-growth screens get wrong, and how to filter quarterly sales

    Why raw quarterly revenue rankings fill up with tiny year-ago bases, license payments and recent acquisitions, and the filing checks that tell them apart.

Check before you act

  • Nothing on this page is a signal to buy or sell. Prices can keep moving against you, and you can lose money.
  • Reported figures can contain errors; each row links to its filing for checking.
  • A missing or late report can leave the latest quarter out.
  • Acquisitions and changes in reporting can lift sales without faster growth in the existing business. Ask your AI to check for a completed acquisition (8-K item 2.01) before trusting a big jump.
  • Sales growth says nothing by itself about profit or the next share-price move.

The query

The MonkQL your AI writes
  1. from stocks

    Scan active US stocks.

  2. let sales = facts(concept = "revenue", period = "quarterly")

    Read the latest quarterly sales report and its comparison fields.

  3. let year_ago = facts(concept = "revenue", period = "quarterly", back = "4")

    Read the same quarter a year earlier, four quarterly periods back.

  4. where year_ago.value >= 50000000 and sales.yoy > 0 and sales.yoy < 3 and sales.yoy > sales.yoy_before

    Require a $50M prior-year base, positive growth below 300% and a faster rate than the quarter before.

  5. show sales.value as revenue, 100 * sales.yoy as rev_growth, 100 * sales.yoy_before as prior_growth, year_ago.value as year_ago_rev

    Show sales, both yearly growth rates and the prior-year base.

  6. sort rev_growth desc

    Put the fastest yearly increase first.

  7. take 10

    Return ten companies to check against their filing evidence.
